THE Philippine National Police will deploy some 18,800 police officers for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day to ensure the security and safety of the people visiting the graves of the dearly departed.
“May deployment. Mayroong mangilan-ngilan nagpupunta around 7000 ang nakadeploy na ngayon. May police assistance hanggang long weekend sabot sa 18,800 nationwide sa mga babantay sa sementeryo, transport, and seaports and airports,” PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo said.
Fajardo noted that of the said number, 12,540 are National Capital Region Police Office personnel, 1,885 are members of the Bureau of Fire Protection, 2,450 are force mutipliers and 1,257 are personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Likewise, the 76 cemeteries and 58 columbaria in Metro Manila will be strictly monitored.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil also ordered field commanders to deploy their personnel in various transport terminals and roads to secure travelers.
They are also instructed to do routine patrols in residential areas as the PNP expects more people traveling to the provinces for the Undas break.
“If they have the budget, homeowners can purchase closed-circuit television cameras to secure their homes,” Fajardo said.
