PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has greenlit the creation of a national task force to prepare for the country’s historic hosting of the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, set for November 21 to December 7, 2025.
Sixteen nations are expected to compete across two host cities: Pasig City in Metro Manila and Victorias City in Negros Occidental.
To pull off the event, Malacañang has issued Administrative Order No. 35, forming an inter-agency task force led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and backed by several government bodies, including the DILG, DOT, DOH, DPWH, DOTR, and the PNP, among others.
The administration hopes the tournament will boost tourism, spark local interest in women’s sports, and raise the Philippines’ profile in the global arena.
“The hosting of the FFWWC 2025 aims to advance the development of futsal in the country, inspire greater sports engagement among Filipinos, elevate the Philippines’ standing in the international sports arena, and generate economic and tourism opportunities through a globally recognized event,” said the AO.
The task force, composed of key national agencies, is mandated to coordinate efforts to ensure the successful hosting of the tournament, including logistics, health protocols, venue readiness, and international coordination.
With a few months to go, the pressure is on. But for Philippine sports—and Filipino women athletes—this could be a turning point.
The administrative order takes effect immediately.
