THE Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) orders the temporary suspension of service disconnection activities in concession areas.
In a press release by MWSS, they have directed Manila Water Company, Inc. and Maynilad Water Services, Inc., to temporarily suspend all service disconnection activities due to non-payment of water bills within their concession areas.
This is due to the disruption brought by the Southwest Monsoon as well as the tropical storms, “Crising,” “Dante, “ and “Emong.”
The said suspension will be effected for 15 days, starting from July 25 to August 8, 2025.
“At this critical time, when access to clean, safe, and reliable water is essential to protecting public health, the MWSS RO has likewise instructed the Concessionaries to ensure water supply availability for all customers.” Chief regulator Patrick Lester N. TY wrote.
“Rest assured that the MWSS RO will continue to implement proactive measures to support communities and protect consumer welfare, especially during this time of adversity.”
MWSS RO also stated that this directive doesn’t cover disconnection cases that involve water service tampering, a violation of Republic Act No. 8041 (Water Crisis Act), or other unlawful activities.
