A MAGNITUDE 6 earthquake rocked General Luna, Surigao Del Norte early morning Friday.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) it occurred 13 kilometers from General Luna town at 7:03 a.m.
PHIVOLCS said that they are expecting damage and aftershocks.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.
Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS said that Intensity IV was felt in the following areas:
- Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte
- Hinunangan, San Francisco, Hinundayan, and Silago in Southern Leyte
- Surigao City in Surigao del Norte
The Philippines has been hit recently with a series of major earthquakes, leaving several people dead and thousands injured.
Just last week, a magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 double earthquakes struck offshore of Manay, Davao Oriental.
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake on the other hand hit Cebu just two weeks ago.
