LPA May Intensify Within 24 Hours, PAGASA Warns

by Rescel Ocampo

A LOW-PRESSURE area (LPA) currently within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is being closely monitored by PAGASA, as it shows a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The system, officially tagged as LPA 07g, was spotted at 8:00 AM today, July 21, and is already bringing scattered rain showers over parts of Luzon.

While it has not yet intensified, PAGASA cautions the public to prepare for potentially worsening weather conditions, especially if the disturbance strengthens.

In response to the prevailing weather conditions, they issued Intermediate-level General Flood Advisories at 11:00 a.m. for the following regions:

  • National Capital Region (GFA #6)
  • Region III – Central Luzon (GFA #12)
  • Region IV-A – CALABARZON (GFA #11)

“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned river systems and the local disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are still advised to take appropriate actions,” warned PAGASA.

Water levels in several dams were recorded as of 8:00 AM.

Angat, IPO, San Roque, Pantabangan, Magat, and Caliraya Dams all saw slight increases, with San Roque rising the most at 2.38 meters.

This is a developing story. Updates will be released as more information becomes available from PAGASA.
