STATE weather forecasters had declared the end of the habagat or southwest monsoon.
According to PAGASA, they had noticed the weakening of the southwest monsoon over the past few weeks.
This marks a change in the weather pattern of the country with the strengthening of the high pressure systems over East Asia and the southward migration of the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
Likewise, PAGASA said that the end of the Habagat season likewise marks the end of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
Presently, the country is now transitioning to the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan season, which may begin in the coming weeks.
The peak of the cool Amihan season usually occurs in January and February.
The temperatures in the Cordilleras usually dip below 10 degrees Celsius and in Metro Manila below 20 degrees Celsius early in the morning.
