THE Department of Health said that a person died while 125 were injured due to firecrackers.
In a report, a 78-year-old man coming from Central Luzon died after he lighted a Judas belt firecracker.
“78-year-old male po si Lolo na pasyente, active involvement po – nagsindi ng Judas belt. Naospital noong December 22, binawian ng buhay December 27. Taga Central Luzon po,” DOH Assistant Secretary Dr. Albert Domingo said.
The victim’s wife narrated that her husband was then sorting old supplies of firecrackers and was laying gunpowder in the sun before the accident.
“Namatay siya sa kaniyang injuries at mayroon na din complications. ‘Yung immediate cause of death is infection,” said Domingo.
The senior citizen is the first recorded firecracker casualty ahead of the New Year 2025.
