HEALTH officials continue to warn the public against using illegal fireworks and illegal firecrackers, as an additional 26 new cases of injuries were recorded, bringing to total cases up to 69.

According to the DOH update, 62 sentinel sites had logged the total cases from December 22 to 6 a.m. of December 26.

Of the said cases, there were 58 victims who are 19 years old and below.

On the other hand, the remaining 11 are 20 years old and up.

Also, the health department said that 65 of the victims are male while the remaining four are female.

Meanwhile, 51 or 74% were active users of firecrackers.

Some 59 or 86% of the total cases are aware that firecrackers are illegal, especially the “boga” or an improvised cannon made from large PVC pipes and fueled by denatured alcohol.
