DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla will not be cracking jokes anytime soon.
In a new class suspension post from the DILG, Remulla said that the decision to lose his signature humor was because of the criticisms he had been receiving, including one from Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a media interview, albeit admitting the she is not aware of the DILG’s manner of posting on its official social media accounts, Duterte said that an institution and a person should be separate entities. She further said that the agency, in this case, the DILG, should maintain a certain level of professionalism.
As such, Remulla was straightforward in announcing the class and government work suspension for Friday, July 25 due to the comboeffects of both Dante and Emong and the enhanced southwest monsoon:

DILG clarified that classes are suspended in all levels, including those studying under TESDA.
Non-essential government work is also suspended, unless their respective heads of agencies implements a hybrid syster. Meanwhile those working in the frontlines like those providing emergency response, health services, and other essential personnel are required to report to work.
