THE Senate will continue to hold Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II as a Pasay Regional Trial Court junked his petition for habeas corpus seeking his release from detention in the Senate.
“I was informed yesterday by the Senate Legal Counsel that RTC dismissed the petition for habeas corpus filed by Discaya,” Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said in an interview over ABS-CBN.
Likewise, Senate President Vicente Sotto III confirmed the development.
Discaya’s lawyer Cornelio Samaniego said that the contractor is “still at the Senate detention facility.”
Discaya was cited in contempt by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee as he was detained on September 18.
This is for allegedly lying about the absence of his wife Sarah during a hearing on alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
