DOH raises Code White Alert for Holy Week 2025 | RepublicAsia

Code White in effect for all hospitals for Semana Santa 2025, says DOH

by Kiko Cueto

AS Filipinos commemorate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ this Holy Week, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that they had reactivated their Code White as part of their preparations for the week-long religious event.

The DOH said that they are making sure against any health-related incidents that may arise as Filipinos flock to the provinces, churches, and tourist destinations.

Code White Alert starts today, April 13, Palm Sunday, and will last until April 20, Easter Sunday.

The Health Department usually declares a Code White Alert especially during national events, holidays, or celebrations, as it can bring about mass casualty incidents or emergencies. It is aimed to ensure that health facilities are ready, and that the personnel are present.

The Code White status ensures that all of the medical personnel, particularly those in emergency rooms and critical care units, are ready for a potential increase in patient volume due to accidents, injuries, or other health-related incidents that may happen.

Earlier, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa had asked the public to remain vigilant as well as take the proper and necessary precautions for a safe and healthy observance of Holy Week.

“We encourage everyone to observe the Holy Week responsibly.
