Cocoy Laurel passed at 72

VETERAN actor Victor D. Laurel, famously known as Cocoy Laurel, died at 72. 

Cocoy Laurel is known as the son of the late former Vice President Salvador Laurel and theater actress-singer Celia Diaz-Laurel. 

The actor is also known as one of the most notable members of Repertory Philippines, standing on his biggest roles as Jean Valijean in  “Les Miserables” and the Engineer in “Miss Saigon.” 

The actor’s death was posted on his late mother, Celia Laurel’s, Facebook page on Monday, stating that the actor had died last Saturday, June 14.  

In the caption, the family wrote “It is with deep affection and grateful faith that we entrust our dear brother, Victor, into the hands of our almighty Lord God, Creator, and Savior.”  

“He worshipped God and praised him through his music and artistry and blessed others so generously.” It continues.

“Rest in peace beloved brother, mentor, maestro, and friend. We are incredibly grateful for you.” the caption ended. 

The actor’s cause of death has not been disclosed in the public.
