THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the death toll from the magnitude 6.9 Cebu earthquake is now at 72.
Presently, the NDRRMC said that all casualties are still up for validation.
Likewise some 294 people are reported as missing from the Cebu earthquake.
According to OCD Eastern Visayas Chief Dir. Joel Erastain, the number of fatalities may stll go up.
Some 246 people have been injured and no missing persons reported.
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Cebu on Tuesday and is currently affecting 47,221 families, or 170,959.
Aftershocks had been reported to as high as magnitude 5 recorded at 10 am, Thursday, October 2.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that they have recorded 2,461 aftershocks.
PHIVOLCS said that the aftershocks ranged from magnitude 1.0 to 5.0 and that only 13 were felt.
The OCD has warned the public to avoid going back to their houses until authorities declare it is safe to do so.
