RAINS dampened the majority of the streets in Metro Manila and Southern Luzon on Christmas Day, seeing a few families opting to stay at home.
As many people celebrate a white Christmas, for people in the NCR, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and parts of MIMAROPA are having a rainy Christmas due to a shear line.
A shear line is formed when the cool northeast monsoon (Amihan) converges with the warm and moist Easterlies from the Pacific.
This results in thick clouds and persistent rainfall.
It extended to Samar and southern Central Luzon.
According to the state weather bureau, heavy rainfall warnings are being experienced with:
- Orange Warning: Camarines Norte
- Yellow Warning: Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, northeastern Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, eastern Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, and the northern portions of Samar and Eastern Samar
Meanwhile, it is also being reported that there are continuous rains in Quezon, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas for the past two weeks.
It has caused flooding and landslides in various areas.
