HELP is on the way as the 911 hotline will begin to be operational starting September 11.
We’ve all heard about the life-saving hotline of 911 in foreign films where the movie characters would immediately yell, “call 911!” whenever a crisis occurs.
This fantasy of having a fast response is no longer fictional as the 911 hotline can now be used starting on Thursday.
According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) news release, the single hotline will replace more than 30 local emergency hotlines nationwide and will be designed according to the language used in the area.
Philippine dialects such as Cebuano, Ilocano, Waray, and many more will be understood and immediately acted upon.
Five minutes is all it takes to have emergency personnel to come by along with trained call talkers to assure people that help is on the way in times of crisis.
According to DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the unified should be considered as a lifeline and not just your typical hotline.
“Every second matters, every call matters, every life matters. This is the government fulfilling its promise that help will always be within reach,” he said.
Remulla also added that the hotline 911 reflects the views of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos for a safer and stronger community.
