6 Pinoys wounded, 1 critical, amidst Israel vs. Iran attack

by Deanna Macaranas

WITH the ongoing Israel vs. Iran missile warfare, the number of wounded Filipinos has risen to six, with one being recorded to be in critical condition, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

It is the fourth day of the ongoing exchange of airstrike attacks, but an evacuation is yet to be announced.

Last Monday, in an interview with GMA’s “Balitanghali,” Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Works reported that an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is in a critical condition, with three others were injured after being crushed by building debris as a result of the airstrike.

Two of the four Filipinos were already discharged from the hospital, while the Filipina who was reported to be in a critical condition after sustaining injuries in the heart and lungs and another OFW are still recovering.

Last week, Jerusalem launched a surprise attack on Tehran, targeting Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile facilities and top commanders.

On Sunday, the Philippine Government facilitated the safe return of 18 OFWs to their homes after being stranded at the Dubai International Airport.

There are more than 30,000 Filipinos that are living in Israel, while more than 1,000 Filipinos live in Iran

DMW promised that they will do their best to assist Filipinos who want to go back to the Philippines.

To help OFWs and their families in the Middle East who have been affected by the warring of two nations, the DMW and the OWWA have set up a 24/7 help desk.

Meanwhile, the DMW’s office in Dubai has also assisted the stranded OFWs until they were boarded on their flights back to the Philippines.
