HEARD of the phrase “its gonna be a long night?”
Well, at least for tonight, in the Philippines is going to have just that, a long night tonight, as with the rest of the northern hemisphere.
It coincides with the 2024 winter solstice which will begin at 5:21 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time), according to PAGASA.
”This day marks the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere, when the sun reaches its southernmost position in the sky,” PAGASA said.
”Astronomers consider this day the start of winter in the northern hemisphere and summer in the southern hemisphere.”
In 2023, the winter solstice arrived on December 22.
