WITH the extreme heat of a combined summer and El Nino, the Schools Division Office in Iriga City said that they are now contemplating on reverting to modular learning.
According to Annabelle Penolio, the Faculty President of San Nicolas Elementary School, electric fans that is supposed to cool down 30 Grade 5 students in a classroom is not enough.
She said that there could be a potential health issue due to the intense heat.
Penolio said she is pushing for the adoption of a modified schedule, combining modular learning with in-person classes.
“Mag-modular na lang. Halimbawa ngayong week, modular. Next week, para ma-follow-up,” Penolio added.
The Department of Education’s Schools Division Office in Iriga City allowed last year for the of modular learning in response to health concerns caused by the intense heat.
The office is now considering revisiting this approach in the current year, if necessary.
