Four dead over Antipolo City landslide

ANTIPOLO City: Four people were reported dead and two others were rescued after a landslide struck Wednesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection in this city said.

According to the Antipolo City Fire Station, the incident occured in Barangay dela Paz

“The team tirelessly worked hand in hand and managed to rescue two people alive and was able to retrieve four casualties trapped under the soil and mud. The entire operation only lasted for two hours,” the Antipolo City Fire Station said.

The search and retrieval operations had taken two hours, according to authorities.

The BFP had not released any statement on the cause of the landslide.

“This station would like to express our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims,” it added.

But according to the Dela Paz Radio and Communication Group Fire and Rescue Volunteer in Antipolo City, the number of injured individuals has gone up to three.

They likewise said in their social media account that the said “soil erosion was due to construction excavation around 4:40 p.m.”

They also said that among those who responded were the BFP Antipolo City, the CDRRM Rescue Antipolo City, the Brgy. Dela Paz and Brgy. Mambugan Rescue Teams.

Presently, the landslide incident was turned over to the Antipolo City Police Station for further investigation.  

Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III said he is closely monitoring the situation and is waiting for the results of the investigation.
