SOME 19 cars reportedly caught fire at the parking lot of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
A video by Facebook user Farrah Umpar showed how the vehicles were burning.
Initial reports said that airport firefighters were able to contain the fire that started allegedly from dried leaves.
The fire emanated at the parking extension of NAIA Terminal 3.
It started at 1:28 p.m., and was declared out by 1:57 p.m.
A statement from MIAA said their “Rescue and Firefighting Division [is] still conducting mopping operations and determining the real cause of the incident.”
MIAA General Manager Eric Ines was quoted as saying that the fire, which happened in a vacant area that was being used as a parking lot, did not affect airport operations.
“Ito’y medyo 300 meters away from the terminal. Yung vacant lot na ginawang parking lot ng isang concessionaire. Walang naantalang operation,” he said.
Ines also confirmed that around 19 vehicles parked in the area were affected.
