Enteng and its effect in the Philippines

by Deanna Macaranas AND RepublicAsia

THE southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm Enteng brought incessant rainfall in the country since it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) last Sunday, September 1.

Moderate to heavy rainfall have been affecting areas of Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Netizens, particularly on Facebook, shared their experiences, mainly with the inconvenience of the floodings.

A woman in San Mateo, Rizal was photographed braving the chest-high flood to secure her merchandise.

In Tanay, Rizal, a netizen shared clips and pictures of the knee-high flood.

A school in Pililla, Rizal was swamped in mud and flood with majority of the school facilities damaged by the storm.

Meanwhile, a school in Naga City, Camarines Sur was also submerged due to the severe flooding.

The San Pedro Dam in Sta. Elena, Camarines Norte had a rough water flow due to the inclement weather.

Due to the devastating effect of the tropical storm, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had sent people to help out those who are affected in the areas of Marikina, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Aside from sending help, the MMDA along with the LGUs at Quezon City hauled the accumulated waste that clogs the Talayan Creek.

As of 5 pm, PAGASA declared that the Tropical Storm Enteng was now over Quirino province after making a landfall in Casiguran, Aurora.
