DOH: 4 new fireworks-related cases involving minors

by Kiko Cueto

THE number of fireworks-related incidents that had affected minors aged 8-12 has increased to 8, with the Department of Health reporting 4 new cases.

According to the latest information from the DOH, the cases involved 3 illegal fireworks and one legal firework.

So far according to the DOH tally, the 8 cases involved “Boga” (3); “Piccolo” (2); and one each for “5-star”,  “Baby Dynamite” and “Goodbye, Philippines.”

Meanwhile health officials had reminded parents to always look after their children and prevent them from using fireworks.

“Police, Mayors, and Barangay Captains can stop the sale and use of illegal fireworks and promote community fireworks display instead of household use. Parents should watch over their children and lead by example by using noise-making alternatives,” the DOH said.

“The DOH, on orders of President Marcos, can and will take care of trauma and injuries; however, the family and community is still the best place to start saving lives,” the DOH statement said.
