DepEd warns public vs ‘pang baon’ posts

by Carl Santos

THE Department of Education (DepEd) belied claims that it is offering allowances of up to P5,000 to elementary students.

A post circulating on social media said that the DepEd distributes P1,000 “pang baon” to first-graders, P2,000 to second-graders, P2,500 to third-graders, P3,000 to fourth-graders, P4,000 to fifth-graders, and P5,000 to sixth-graders.

It stated that a school ID is the only requirement and that it must be presented by March 30, 2024, at the latest.

”The Department of Education warns the public about fake posts claiming that they give out ‘pang baon’ for Grade 1 to 6 learners,” DepEd said in a statement.

”Parents and guardians are strongly advised not to give out their children’s school information and identification to these kinds of hideous posts so as not to compromise their security.”

The DepEd also reminded the public to stay vigilant against misinformation.
