WHILE President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., assured that classes will open on Monday, July 29, 2024, the Department of Education said that some 738 schools in four regions across the country have opted to suspend classes as an after effect of the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina which enhanced the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
According to the list of the education department here is a list of the number of schools the cities and provinces that opted to delay their class opening:
In the National Capital Region: Malabon City: 42; Marikina City: 33; Navotas City: 2; Pasig City: 44; Quezon City: 14; Valenzuela City: 71.
For Central Luzon: Bataan: 208; Balanga: 2; Bulacan: 92; Meycauayan City: 20; Malolos City: 48; Pampanga: 51; San Jose City: 1; and Tarlac Province: 20.
Meanwhile in Soccsksargen it has four in Cotabato.
For the Cordillera Administrative Region: Abra: 47; Apayao: 5; Baguio: 7; Benguet: 6; Kalinga: 8 and the Mt. Province: 13
The report also said that 246 schools had experienced flooding and 425 were being used as evacuation centers, of which 64 still have evacuees.
Meanwhile, 12,866 schools were affected in 65 divisions and 10 regions.
They were in the Cordillera Administrative Region, National Capital Region, Regions I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, and VIII.
