MORE than a million individuals are expected to flock to the Manila North Cemetery to visit their dearly departed, its management said.
Several families have started visiting and preparing ahead for the long weekend and Undas.
“Para maging comfortable din ang biyahe namin at saka para magkaroon din kami ng mahabang pakikisama sa aming patay,” Manila North Cemetery visitor Ching Meneses.
Since Saturday, the management of the cemetery has limited the entry of vehicles that can come in and even blocked tricycles.
But senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWD), and pregnant women were still allowed to bring their cars inside the premises.
“Hindi na po pinapayagan pumasok yung kanilang mga sasakyan sa kadahilanan pong maliliit po yung kalye sa loob ng sementeryo. Basta senior citizen and PWD and pregnant women, ina-allow naman namin ipasok yung kanilang sasakyan,” said cemetery director Yayay delos Reyes.
Meanwhile, the Manila City Government said that they provide free transportation for senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women from October 30 to November 2.
Over at the Manila South Cemetery, they entry of paint and cleaning of tombs have stopped as it was only until yesterday, Saturday.
