ANTIPOLO City: Bracing for the return of the “Alay Lakad,” the city government announced road closures and rerouting ahead of the traditional religious activity.
Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III said that the closure and rerouting will take effect on March 28, Holy Thursday from 6 pm., to March 29, 6 am., to Good Friday.
Among the roads that will be closed include: Tikling to Shopwise; J.P. Rizal St.; P. Oliveros St.; M. L. Quezon St.; Carigma St.; San Jose St.; C. Lawis St.; Masangkay St.; Bonifacio St.; Dela Paz St.; Daang Bakal Rd.; and Marigman at Cabrera Rd.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jun said that the traffic rerouting scheme will be implemented with light and heavy vehicles from Poblacion, Antipolo and nearby area (Teresa and Angono) going to the Marcos Highway and vice versa are advised to take the following roads: Circumferential Road; Sumulong Highway and Olalia Road (for light vehicles).
For those with light vehicles from Teresa going to Manila are advised to use: M.L. Quezon Ext. then proceed to Mahabang Parang, Angono and Binangonan; and Sapang Buho for those going to Angono at Binangonan.
The Olalia Rd. and Blue Mountain will be turned into a one-way street for those going down, and will be closed to all types of vehicles from 6 pm., from March 28 to 6 am., of March 29.
The streets of Ortigas Ave. Extn. from Rotonda of Kaytikling going up to Antipolo will be closed to all types of vehicles as the PNP will be manning the area.
“Pansamantala munang hindi ipapatupad o lifted ang number coding scheme para sa mga tricycle sa mga nasabing araw,” Mayor Jun also said.
“Isang ligtas at mapagpalang Semana Santa sa ating lahat,” he added.
