Although Gabriel spent her life mostly in the US, she is no stranger to the Philippines because, through the years, she has been going back and forth to visit her dad’s home.

The 29-year-old stunner is still in the country after serving as a judge in the recently concluded Miss Universe Philippines pageant that hailed Makati’s Michelle Dee as winner.

Gabriel is the first Filipino-American and a native of Houston, Texas to snatch the Miss Universe crown. Prior to her entry into pageantry, she worked as a fashion designer, a model, and a sewing instructor.

Gabriel is proud of her roots. She is known of encouraging Filipinos to compete in beauty pageants even before she won the crown last year.
