Manila LGU: Road closures in Quiapo for Good Friday procession

SEVERAL roads in the City of Manila will be closed to traffic for the Good Friday procession organized by the Quiapo Church.

According to the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), the following roads will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Thursday.

  • Northbound and Southbound Lane of Quezon Blvd. from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Quezon Bridge straight to P. Burgos (Park N’ Ride)
  • Westbound Lane España Blvd from P. Campa to Lerma St.;
  • Stretch of Evangelista from C.M. Recto to Villalobos;
  • Northbound lane of Rizal Ave. from Carriedo to C.M. Recto Ave.
  • Stretch of Gonzalo Puyat from Quezon Blvd. (SB) to Rizal Ave.;
  • Stretch of Carriedo from Plaza Lacson to Evangelista;
  • Stretch of C. Palanca St. from P. Casal to Plaza Lacson;
  • Stretch of Arlegui from Quezon Blvd. (NB) to Legarda;
  • Westbound lane of Legarda from Arlegui to C.M. Recto;
  • San Rafael (Plaza del Carmen) from Legarda to Quezon Blvd. (NB);
  • Stretch of S.H. Loyola to C.M. Recto to Bilibid Viejo; and
  • Northbound lane of McArthur Bridge

Motorists were advised to follow this re-routing plan:

  • Vehicles intending to utilize Quezon Blvd coming from A. Mendoza shall turn right to Fugoso St., left to Rizal Ave. or Tomas Mapua St. to point of destination;
  • Vehicles coming from Quezon City utilizing westbound lane of España Blvd. shall turn left to Nicanor Reyes St. (Morayta), turn left to C.M. Recto Ave. or turn right to P Campa St., to Fugoso St. to point of destination;
  • Vehicles coming from P. Burgos Ave. intending to utilize Quezon Bridge or McArthur Bridge shall go straight to Jones Bridge to point of destination;
  • Vehicles coming from Ayala Bridge intending to utilize Palanca St. shall go straight to P. Casal St. to point of destination; and
  • Vehicles coming from Sta. Mesa intending to utilize westbound lane of Legarda shall turn right to C.M. Recto Ave. to point of destination.

”Closure of some streets will also be in effect as the procession approaches,” the MTPB said.
