LTFRB: ‘Libreng Sakay’ program for bus and jeeps are back

by Kiko Cueto

GOOD news! At least until the end of the year, the free rides along select jeepneys and buses will be back.

This was announced by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The said Libreng Sakay program was hatched during the pandemic to help workers with their budgeting.

It was stopped on January this year, after two years of operation.

Among those include the EDSA Carousel Busway.

According to the Department of Transportation, some 320,000 to 390,000 passengers take the libreng sakay at the EDSA Bus Carousel everyday.

It is slated to return on November until the end of the year.
