Lakers can’t take the Heat lose big 98-112

by Ron Poblete

The LA Lakers get undone by too many turnovers, lose to the Miami Heat Thursday morning, 112-98 at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida.

The Lakers were playing back to back games away in a festive month and it showed in the first half of their game against the Heat. They turned the ball over 12 times which led to 19 points for the Heat.

Surprisingly the Lakers only trailed by nine points 52-61 at the half with help from their 3-Point shooting. They shot better than the Heat from beyond the arc which prevented it from turning it into a blowout.

Downward spiral

But it was only a matter of time when it did happen as the Lakers were sloppy with the ball and couldn’t break down the tough Miami defense.

It really got worse in the third quarter for the Lakers as they trailed by as many as 22 points and were struggling to look for answers.

The Heat ended up forcing the Lakers to turn the ball over 26 times and score 33 points off them.

Too little too late

The Lakers made a furious comeback though behind Lebron James 27 points 6 assists and  9 rebounds as they cut down the lead to as few as eight points with four minutes remaining.

LA outscored Miami 20-17 in the fourth quarter but came up short. The Heat made clutch shots from Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro in the last few minutes of the game with Lebron turning the ball over in critical moments.

Jimmy Butler scored 27 points to lead five players in double figures for the Heat.

The Lakers now have lost 4 out of  5 on the road in this grueling stretch for the NBA bottom dwellers in the Pacific division.

Their next game is at Atlanta, December 31, 830 am Manila time.
