Kathleen Hermosa faces another miscarriage: ‘We will never give up trying’

by RepublicAsia

KATHLEEN Hermosa shared she faced another miscarriage, months after her first one in November 2023.

The former actress-content creator shared this in her recent four-part vlogs on YouTube, revealing her diagnosis of congenital thrombophilia, a condition that is inherited upon birth according to Cleveland Clinic.

This condition mainly affects the person’s blood flow system, and “makes the blood in your veins and arteries more likely to clot.”

Another risk of having thrombophilia is pregnancy loss.

Another cause of miscarriage was also the antiphospholipid (APS) syndrome, an autoimmune disease. According to the Mayo Clinic, APS syndrome is a disease where “the immune system mistakenly creates antibodies that attack tissues in the body” which can cause the blood to clot in arteries and veins abnormally.

Kathleen expressed how confused she was about facing another pregnancy loss, she couldn’t help but question “What went wrong?” looking back to everything that happened. “Hindi ko talaga maintindihan saan ako nagkamali, may nagawa ba ako, kami ni Miko na hindi nakahonor kay God?” she cried.

On a video call with her sister Kristine Hermosa, she told her about the situation before the actual mishap “tumigil ‘yung heartbeat. May heartbeat na nung una. Lumaki din ‘yung baby—lumaki na siya, may limbs na,” she explained in detail. “Ang ibig sabihin nung congenital thrombophilia, humihinto ang supply ng dugo ng mommy papunta sa fetus.” She added.

She shared her journey of naturally taking out the baby and said that the whole experience was even more devastating compared to her miscarriage of their triplets back in November 2023.

Despite their family’s adversities, Kathleen strongly believes there is more to this and is still blessed to have his stepson, Guian. “I think God wants us or I for this matter,” she said in the description of her vlog.

Kathleen is still hopeful of future blessings they will receive. “If you’re gonna ask me if I’m gonna conceive again, we will never give up trying. Alam ko God has great plans for us and we will continue to surrender.” She said.

After the incident, Kathleen and her family took a beach trip to Camotes Island with her non-showbiz husband Miko Santos, her sister Kristine, and in-laws.

Before this, Kathleen and Miko lost their triplets due to an anembryonic pregnancy — wherein a fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus but does not develop into an embryo in November 2023.

The two got married in a garden wedding in Cebu in June 2023.
