Kapamilya’s ‘It’s Showtime’ now a Kapuso as Marc Logan signs new contract with TV5

IT’S Showtime, a noontime program of the Kapamilya network is now officially a Kapuso!

Starting next month, It’s Showtime will again go head to head with Eat Bulaga which has moved to TV 5. 

The news was revealed during the contract-signing that took place at GMA Studios where both executives of GMA and ABS-CBN networks were present.

For the GMA executives, it was headed by GMA Network Chairman Atty. Felipe L. Gozon President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, SVP for Programming, Talent Management Worldwide, and Support Group Atty. Annette M. Gozon-Valdes.

As for the ABS-CBN network executives: ABS-CBN’s President and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak, Chairman Mark L. Lopez, COO Cory Vidanes, and Group Chief Financial Officer Ricardo B. Tan Jr. were also present.

It’s Showtime hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Karylle, Kim Chiu, Amy Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Darren Espanto, Ion Perez, MC, Lassy, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez were also present, as they arrived via float like vehicle.

Before having the contract signing, “It’s Showtime” teased the good news on their Facebook page with a 10 second clip that simply says: “Abangan ang good news mamayang 4 pm!”

The “It’s Showtime” teaser post garnered over 31,000 views and 1,6000 reactions on Facebook.

While the show’s three figures were available on the clip, people had also noticed the little heart beside the S figure—leading people to talk about it.

The It’s Showtime contract signing was also streamed live with host Robi Domingo and Iya Villania. 

Aside from having a new contract signing with GMA, It’s Showtime also celebrates its 15th year.

The afternoon TV program is set to air on GMA’s noontime slot starting Saturday on April 6. The show will also be available on GMA Pinoy TV as well as continuing airing on free-to-air television network GTV.

“It’s Showtime” first started airing on GTV last July after signing a contract with the GMA Network in June 2023.

The show airs at GTV every Monday to Saturday at 12 pm.

Upon signing the having a deal with the Kapuso Network, GMA chairman Atty. Felipe L. Gozon proclaimed “the TV war is over.” 

Being part of GTV, Filipino actor Vice Ganda had expressed her gratitude for giving their show a new home. She also promised that they would not waste the opportunity given to them.

About “It’s Showtime”

It’s Showtime first premiere on ABS-CBN on October 24, 2009. Aside from being shown locally, the program also aired internationally via TFC, YouTube, Facebook, Kapamilya Online live, and iWantTFC.

The show was originally hosted by Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, and Vice Ganda but as time went on—various hosts were later added.

The show went on with ABS-CBN until the network shutdown on May 5, 2020. As the Kapamilya network shutdown, the program continues to be broadcast throughout cable and satellite channels Kapamilya and JeepneyTV, as well as free-to-air channel A2Z.

From Kapamiya to Kapatid: Marc Logan lumipat sa TV5 

MULA sa kanyang 28 taong serbisyo bilang Kapamilya, ang Filipino broadcast journalist na si  Marc Logan ay isa nang Kapatid matapos siyang opisya nal pumirma ng kontrata sa TV5. 

Kilala si Marc Logan sa kaniyang wit at humor, dahil sa kaniyang personalidad–siya ay nagkaroon ng isang funny segment “Mga Kwento ni Marc Logan” na kabilang sa news flagship program ng ABS-CBN na “TV Patrol.” Ito ay napapanood ng karamihan tuwing sabado ng 6 pm. 

Sa loob ng 28 taon, naging kilala si Marc Logan bilang parte ang Kapamilya hanggang sa ito ay lumpat sa TV5 noong Marso ayon sa release.   

Simula sa April 6, nakatakdang ipalabas ang sa headline ang kaniyang “Top 5 Mga Kwentong Marc Logan,” bilang isang comedy show na magpapatawa sa mga audience. 

Ito ay mapapanood tuwing sabado ng 6:15 pm bago ang Frontline Weekend. 

Ayon sa TV5, Dadalhin ni Marc Logan ang mga manonood sa isang nakakatuwang paglalakbay mula sa mga trending na paksa hanggang sa mga kawili-wiling kwento ng mga tao, lugar, at kaganapan.

“This exciting new show offers a unique blend of humor, entertainment, and insightful storytelling,” Dagdang ng TV5. 

Maliban dito, ang palabas ay magkakaroon din ng tatlong segments: “Taba ng U-Talk,” kung saan mahihighlight ang sense of humor ng mga Pinoy, “ManOpet,” kung saan naman ishoshowcase ang kakaibang talento ng mga alagang hayop, at “Pakitalk-kitalk,” kung saan naman mafefeature ang weekly viral videos sa social media. 

Dito, nakatakdang ishowcase ni Logan ang kaniyang nakakaaliw na storytelling at presentation.  

Bago nabuo ang “Mga Kwento ni Marc Logan,” unang naging parte ng Kapamilya si Marc Logan noong 1996 bilang isang Desk Editor. 

Nagtake ng early retirement mula sa ABS-CBN ang broadcast journalist noong January 2023 pero siya ay naging talent ng TV Patrol haggang sa huling lingo ng Pebrero ngayong taon.

Habang siya ay na sa kaniyang early retirement, naging full-time producer si Marc Logan ng kaniyang production company na “Logan’s Run Entertainment Production,” kung saan siya ang president at CEO. 

Nagproduce din ito ng isang travel show na nagngangalang Tribu Katuga (Kain Tulog Gala) na mapapanood sa Youtube channel at Facebook account ni Logan.  

Pinasalamatan ni Logan ang kaniyang fans sa pagintindi kung bakit nito piniling lumipat sa TV5. Sinabi di niya na hindi na dapat ito maging isyu dahil ang ABS-CBN na daw ang content provider sa kaniyang mga competitors. 

Naintidihan din daw niya na maraming loyal na Kapamilya ang naging dismayado dahil sa kaniyang desisyon ngunit marami naman sa kanila ang nagcongratulate sa kaniyang desisyon.
