Holiday movies to watch this upcoming long weekend

CHRISTMAS is only 36 days away and as the holidays approach, we are also given a time to spend and catch up with our loved ones. While there are a lot of things that you can do along with your loved ones—unwinding with a movie session can just be a fun way to bond with them. 

Still thinking about what to watch for the upcoming long weekend? Check our picks: 

Home Alone  (1990)

Eight-year-old Kevin wakes up to an empty house after the McCallisters unintentionally leave for the airport without him, believing his yearning to be alone has been granted. While being all home alone, he later learns he must defend their house from two con artists. 

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

The movie centers on the adventures of Jack Skellington, the lovable pumpkin king of Halloweentown, who has grown tired of his yearly routine of scaring people in the “real world.” 

Jack finds a new purpose in life when he unintentionally stumbles upon Christmastown, which is a riot of color and cheer. He later schemes to take over Santa Claus and play the role. 

Jack, however, quickly learns that even the most well-laid plans by skeleton men and mice can go horribly wrong.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) 

Young Clara must find a unique, magical key to open a box that holds a priceless treasure. She laters finds the desired key after following a golden thread, but things quickly go the other way when she vanishes into an odd and enigmatic parallel universe.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) 

Lucy suggests that Charlie Brown should take on the role of director of the school Christmas pageant after he laments the excessive materialism he observes in everyone during the holiday season. 

After an unsuccessful attempt to rekindle the right spirit with a lonely small fir Christmas tree, he needs Linus’ assistance to understand the true meaning of the holiday.

The Princess Switch (2018) 

The story follows a duchess who trades places with an average Chicagoan lady who resembles her in every way–a week before Christmas.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Grinch is a grumpy, reclusive creature who–-on Christmas Eve, tries to foil everyone’s plans for the holiday season by robbing Christmas presents and decorations from the houses in the adjacent town of Whoville. The Grinch discovers, quite miraculously, that Christmas is about more than just gifts and money.

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (2017) 

Anna and Elsa discover they have no personal family customs when the realm of Arendelle closes for the holidays. Olaf then embarks on a joyful quest to preserve Christmas and bring home the greatest customs.
