Han So-Hee confirms relationship with Ryu Jun-Yeol

by RepublicAsia

SOUTH KOREAN actress Han So-Hee admitted her relationship with actor Ryu Jun-Yeol, one day after her agency denied the rumors.

On March 15, rumors sparked online that the “Gyeoseong Creature” star had been romantically involved with Ryu Jun-Yeol after the two were sighted together in Hawaii.

Cheating allegations followed shortly after Girl’s Day Hyeri, who dated and starred with Ryu Jun-Yeol in “Reply 1988”, made a cryptic post on her Instagram story that some netizens speculated to be linked to the rumors.

In what appeared to be a vacation photo, the K-pop idol-actress captioned, “This is fun.”

As a response, So-Hee posted on her own Instagram stories and wrote, “I don’t like people who have a partner, I don’t lead them on while saying we’re just friends, I don’t take an interest in them, I don’t develop a relationship with them, and I don’t meddle in other people’s relationships.  I like transit dating programs, but it’s not a part of my life. It’s fun for me too.”

Hyeri and Jun-Yeol’s relationship was publicly announced in August 2017, however, it was revealed in November 2023 that the couple had parted ways.

Some netizens noted that Han So-Hee had posted a photo of herself attending Ryu Jun-Yeol’s photo exhibition the same time around the announcement of the couple’s breakup.

Both Han So-Hee and Ryu Jun-Yeol denied cheating accusations and third-party involvement.

Ryu Jun-Yeol’s agency confirmed that the actor was in Hawaii but made no further comments on the rumors, while 9ato Entertainment later stated that the actress was only there on vacation with “close friends”.

Han So-Hee took to her personal blog to address the controversy directly to her fans.

In a lengthy statement, the actress confirmed her relationship with the actor and assured that there was no overlap in the previous relationship.

So-Hee wrote, “First of all, we are in a relationship with good feelings but please take the word ‘transit’ out. It’s true that we met at his photo exhibition, but it was at the invitation of my friend who is a photographer. I stopped by to say hello as I heard that we might be working on the same project.”

She added, “Second of all, we shared our feelings toward each other at the beginning of 2024, and he broke up with that person at the beginning of 2023. They concluded their relationship early on but the news of their breakup only came out in November. Based on what I heard, I confirmed my feelings with him and continued the relationship.”

The “Neverthless” actress also apologized for her Instagram story, “It was loser of me and lame. I should have stayed quiet. I think I lost my temper for a moment and was rude because I heard and saw various stories about ‘transfer love’, even though I didn’t want to see them.”

In the same post, So-Hee admitted her mistake and apologized to Hyeri and everyone who witnessed her behavior. “This was an action that was driven by emotions rather than reason, so regardless of that reason, I unconditionally admit that I was at fault.”

Han So-Hee apologized again to her fans and made it a point to be transparent with the situation. “Of course, there will be articles, but the articles do not represent my thoughts and feelings, and my blog is the only means of communication with my fans, so I am sorry for coming to you unexpectedly.”
