Gypsy Rose Blanchard and husband have split

by Gaby Agbulos

IN 2015, the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard shocked the world.

Her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, was her sole caretaker at the time and claimed that Gypsy Rose had several illnesses that were eventually found out to be all false.

As a child, Dee Dee would say that Gypsy Rose had leukemia and muscular dystrophy, hence the reason she had her daughter use a wheelchair and a feeding tube.

The list of Gypsy Rose’s illnesses would only continue to grow over the years, and with it, the amount of medication she had to take.

This continued until Gypsy Rose’s teenage years, and due to her apparent illnesses, she and Deedee would often receive several benefits such as free trips to concerts and Disney World. Dee appeared to bask in praise for being such a caring mother.

As she grew older, Gypsy Rose came to understand that her illnesses were fabricated by her mother. She could walk, didn’t have cancer, and could survive without her feeding tube.

In 2013, Gypsy Rose met a man named Nicholas Godejohn, who agreed to kill her mother at Gypsy Rose’s request. The killing happened two years later.

After her mother’s death, Gypsy Rose posted to Facebook: “That b*tch is dead!”

A year following Deedee’s death, Gypsy Rose was sent to prison, where she served time for 10 years, while Godejohn was imprisoned for life. Things between them, however, didn’t work out.

Gypsy Rose then met her most recent partner, Ryan Scott Anderson, in 2020 after he’d sent a letter to her while she was still in prison. In July 2022, they got married and she was then released from prison on December 28, 2023.

Gypsy Rose’s story earned the sympathy of many people for the traumatic experience she had gone through as a child. Given how popular and unusual her case was, Gypsy Rose quickly amassed millions of followers on her social media accounts.

After posting a selfie with her husband on Instagram, he received several hate comments but Gypsy Rose was quick to defend him and said: “Don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is who matters.”

She ended the comment by saying, “They jealous because you are rocking my world every night… yeah I said it, the D is fire.”

People were quick to show support for their relationship and were shocked when Gypsy Rose suddenly posted on Facebook that she and Ryan were no longer together.

Announcing the separation

On Facebook, Gypsy Rose wrote: “Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou.”

She went on to say that she had the support of her friends and family to guide her through the tough time, and that at the moment, she’s learning to listen to herself.

“Right now I need to let myself find who I am,” she said.

At present, Gypsy Rose’s public social media accounts have all been deleted after she posted a video explaining that she doesn’t want to live her life under a microscope.

She’s since made a new Instagram and has a profile on Facebook, but both are set to private. From millions of followers, her private Instagram now has less than a hundred.

The reason behind the split has not been revealed but for now, Gypsy Rose seems set on focusing on herself and figuring things out in her post-prison life.
