Government personnel will start receiving their mid-year bonus on Monday, May 15, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Sunday.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the bonuses would be charged against the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
“We are reminding all government agencies and offices to ensure the timely release of bonuses to their employees or as stipulated in our existing rules and regulations,” she said.
Equivalent to one month’s basic pay, the mid-year bonus is given to eligible employees who have worked at least four months between July 1 of the immediately preceding year and May 15 of the current year.

In addition, the employee must still be employed by the government as of May 15 of the current year and have at least received a satisfactory performance rating during the most recent rating period or the relevant performance appraisal period.
Civilian personnel, whether regular, casual, or contractual, appointed or elected, full-time or part-time, will receive the mid-year bonus.
Also entitled to a mid-year bonus are military and uniformed personnel.
“The grant of mid-year bonuses for personnel of covered GOCCs (government owned or controlled corporations) shall be determined by their respective governing boards. Furthermore, the grant of the mid-year bonus to personnel of provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays shall be determined by their respective sanggunian,” the DBM said.
