SINGER-SONGWRITER Zayn Malik got accused recently of catfishing while using the dating app Tinder. He admitted that he’s been a user of the dating app but would often get kicked out of the system because of the accusations of other users.
In a recent interview with NYLON, Zayn also revealed that using dating apps hasn’t been successful for him because of accusations of impersonating himself.
“It’s not been too successful for me, I’ll be honest. Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?’ I’ve been kicked off once or twice,” he said.
With failed attempts in modern ways of dating, the singer-songwriter shared that he will take a break from searching for romance in the meantime.
Since his last album in 2021 “Nobody Is Listening,” Malik showcases his much-awaited album “Room Under The Stairs” this year.
Is Zayn finally reconciling with former bandmates?
Meanwhile, an insider from British news outlet Daily Mail UK claimed Zayn is looking to rebuild the friendship and is ready to reunite with his former bandmates 10 years after quitting the group One Direction.
The Daily Mail UK insider further said the singer still does not know if it will ever happen or when the reunion between the boys will happen, but that he would love to start a conversation and make amends with the other members.
“He is trying to figure out the best way to reach out because it will be odd, weird, and uncomfortable, but it is something that has been on his mind,” the insider added.
The insider of Daily Mail emphasizes that Zayn’s decision is purely based on rebuilding friendships and connections— and not on getting the band back to perform on stage.
“Zayn wants to approach them for forgiveness and friendship. Working with them is not important to him right now,” the insider explained.
Malik was only 17 years old when Simon Cowell formed the boy band during their “X Factor UK” stint in 2010. Following their success, One Direction was hailed as one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
One Direction is known for their global hits “Night Changes” (2014), “What Makes You Beautiful” (2011), “Story of My Life” (2013), “Live While We Young” (2012), and “Little Things” (2012).
The support of Directioners, the group’s fan base name, contributed to the boy band’s over 70 million records sales worldwide. It became the first band in the history of US Billboard 200 to have their first four albums debut at No. 1.
Malik shocked fans when he decided to leave the group in March 2015, citing stress as his reason for quitting. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson continued with One Direction.
The group’s final album “Made In The A.M” was released in November 2015 and earned its 2x Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Months later, the boy band announced its indefinite hiatus and the four remaining bandmates eventually chose to pursue their solo careers.
