‘Wicked: For Good’ Offers First Glimpse at Musical Film Sequel

by Rescel Ocampo

THE witches of Oz have arrived!

Universal Pictures has unveiled the first official look at Wicked: For Good, offering fans a stunning glimpse of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda— and it’s nothing short of spellbinding.

Alongside striking new posters, a behind-the-scenes featurette was released, offering a glimpse into the sequel’s emotional arc.

In the video, Erivo can be heard singing haunting lines from the showstopper “No Good Deed,” hinting at Elphaba’s deepening inner conflict and the consequences of her choices.

The sneak peek also offers the franchise’s first on-screen glimpse of Dorothy Gale,

accompanied by the iconic trio—the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.

It hints at how the classic Wizard of Oz storyline will begin to intertwine with Elphaba and Glinda’s journey in this chapter.

“As Elphaba and Glinda dive on Wicked: For Good, much has changed,” said Grande in a short interview clip.

“They realize that what they have in film one can never come back again, and what they have to move into is something very different,” added Erivo.

As the sequel brings the story of Oz’s witches to a close, director Jon M. Chu described it as a much more “mature and emotional journey” as the two friends face the consequences of their choices.

“It’s really about them trying to get back together in some way, even if the fates don’t allow that,” he added.

Wicked: For Good is set to hit cinemas on November 21.

Alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the film also sees the return of Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, and Ethan Slater as Boq.
