IT’S new! The shape of the new era is orange.
Yesterday Taylor Swift has officially announced her upcoming album entitled “The Life of a Showgirl,” signalling a departure from The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) and the beginning of a whole new era.
Swift revealed the news in Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights Podcast. In the clip, she was shown to reveal the cover art but it was blurred for the audience.
The full episode is set to be released on August 13, at 7 PM (Eastern Time).
So far, here’s what we know about The Life of a Showgirl:
Release Date
There’s still no information about the official release date of Swift’s newest album, but with the trail of Easter eggs that the artist left, fans are expecting it anytime soon.
In Swift’s website, pre-order will begin on October 13— if you need anymore clue. Although they say that this is not the official release date, the album launch will possibly be dropped near this date.
The Vibes We’re About to Hear
After the album announcement, Taylor Swift released a curated playlist titled “And, baby, that’s showbiz for you ❤️🔥” which echoes the hinted theme of “showgirl.”
In the playlist were Swift’s old songs from previous albums “22,” “Bad Blood,” “Blank Space,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Delicate,” “Shake It Off,” and many more.
All of the songs included in the playlist, with exception to Message From a Bottle from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) re-recording were produced by Martin Garrix and Shellback.
Fans are assuming that Swift— who in her most recent albums worked with Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner— would collaborate once again with Garrix and Shellback whom she worked with during the 1989 era.
Orange is the new Red
It is now known, of course, that the new era’s motif is orange.
In the past, Swift used various colors to define her eras. Red took its namesake. Reputation was black-and-white. Lover assumed the pastels, particularly in pinks and blues.
And now, The Life of a Showgirl takes the orange hue. The album cover is still hidden in a padlock— an orange icon with the background of mint.
Orange appeared throughout the ‘Eras Tour’—in outfits, stage visuals, and the official tour book, which closed with “See you in the next era” and orange imagery.
Now, Googling Taylor Swift triggers orange confetti and the quote: “And baby, that’s show business for you.”
As the curtain rises on this next chapter, the showgirl’s story is still unfolding — and we’ll be watching for her next move.
