About Wave to Earth

Wave to Earth Consists of three members: Kim Daniel, Shin Dongkyu, and John Cha.

Dongkyu and Daniel first met when they were in middle school, while they were both auditioning for their church’s praise team. Daniel found Dongkyu to be so talented that he asked the latter to be in a band with him even though they weren’t that close. They later met Cha while taking a high school entrance exam with one another.

In their interview with Allure, Daniel shares that Wave to Earth wasn’t instantly formed; it only came to be when they released their first-ever EP album, “<wave 0.01.>,” in 2020. After that, things just started to fall into place.

Soon enough, people started to recognize Wave to Earth’s talent, with songs of theirs like “seasons” at 131 million streams on Spotify, and “bad” at 81 million. One platform wherein their music started to pop off was TikTok when more and more people started to use the band’s music for their videos.

Despite their newfound popularity, they’re still the same chill guys that they were in middle school, spending their free time on their PlayStation or simply looking at nature.

“We are continuously preparing to deliver more great music in the future, so we ask for your continued interest and love,” Dongkyu said to fans in an interview with USA Today.

Filming in Pampanga

From the beginning, Wave to Earth has shown love for the Philippines in more ways than one.

Aside from their concerts, this is evident in how they filmed the music video for “sunny days” in Pampanga.

In the video, they’re found hanging out in different spots of the Province, even riding bikes and jeepneys as they play their instruments with wide smiles on their faces.

The video highlights not only the beauty of the sights in the Philippines, but also includes the mundanity of living life here, as seen in them hanging out with locals, shooting stray dogs and sari-sari stores, and not just filling their MV with your typical scenery shots of mountains and beach waves.

Wave to Earth is a band that’s unique not only when it comes to music, but in their creative vision as well.

Anyone can see why they’re quickly climbing to the top, not just in the charts, but in the hearts of music listeners all over the world, as well.
