THE 73rd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards took place at the Manila Hotel, recognizing excellence in Philippine cinema and honoring this year’s standout performances and achievements.
Vice Ganda, Marian Rivera, and Nadine Lustre led the winners of the night after bagging the top acting awards.
Vice Ganda won Best Actor for her performance in And the Breadwinner Is…, sharing the honor with Arjo Atayde for his role in Topakk.
The win comes amid ongoing public discussion about Vice Ganda’s recent “jetski” joke involving former President Rodrigo Duterte, which sparked controversy online.
Marian Rivera received the Best Actress award for her performance in Balota, while Nadine Lustre earned Best Supporting Actress for Uninvited.
Other major winners included Jeric Raval, who was named Best Supporting Actor for Mamay, and JL Burgos, who took home the Best Director award for Alipato at Muog. The same film also secured the Best Picture title.
Technical awards were given to films that showcased craftsmanship in various aspects of filmmaking.
Mamay won Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Musical Score.
Green Bones took home Best Screenplay, Topakk won Best Sound, and The Hearing was recognized for Best Editing.
Special awards were also presented. Kathryn Bernardo received the Bida sa Takilya Award, while Vilma Santos was honored with the FAMAS Circle of Excellence Award.
