THE University of the East (UE) Manila recently launched a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences major in Fitness and Sports Management (BSESS-FSM) program, which aims to develop future professionals in the rapidly entering sports and fitness arena with the relevant knowledge and skills required.
This four-year innovative curriculum meets the rising demand for qualified trainers, managers, and analysts in the country.
The BSESS-FSM program at UE offers students a holistic, forward-thinking student education in such a wide variety of essential topics. The complexities of anatomy will be studied to develop a full and rigorous understanding of the human body and how it performs. The science of movement will also be studied along with physiology, giving the best base knowledge in the body’s reactions to both exercise and training.
With the bulk of the program dedicated to the development of the practical skills of students, they will learn the newest techniques of aerobics and resistance training to help design and implement successful fitness programs. They will also study the principles of sports management, which include topics on facility operations, event planning, and talent development.
This program thus offers students exposure to meaningful internship experiences where they can apply their acquired knowledge to the field into real-life situations working with industry professionals in practical experience.
Such graduates of the BSESS-FSM may open up different exciting career doors available to them, such as:
Athletic Coach: Design and implement training programs for athletes at all levels, helping them reach their performance potential.

UE’s BSESS-FSM program is a big step toward the modernization and professionalization of the sports and fitness industry in the Philippines. It has offered a strong scientific and business foundation in sports and fitness for the next generation of leaders in this dynamic field.
Its comprehensive curriculum, productive scholars, and emphasis on practical application all make it an excellent option for anyone with an interest in and passion for sports, fitness, and helping people achieve their health and performance goals.
