KEEPING up with the weather is a necessity nowadays with the incessant downpour followed by street flooding all over the country.
While most Filipinos are aware of its significance, delayed suspensions of face-to-face classes and work operations became a concern in social media.
#WalangPasok accompanied by memes recently went viral on X (previously Twitter).

As entertaining as the memes can be, netizens share sentiments on the late declaration of suspensions; especially when a video of a group of Grade 10 students went viral.
In the video, they were seen riding a boat despite the strong waves. One of the mothers of the students said that to get to school, they have to cross the river via boat and in the now viral video, her son and his classmates were on their way home after classes were suspended.
The video later opened up the conversation on how important it is to announce class suspensions as early as possible.
A user on X wrote that they hope mayors in Metro Manila realize how impractical it is to delay the announcement of class suspensions, noting on how the call for #WalangPasok is a plea for their safety.
I hope the mayors in Metro Manila realize how impractical it is to delay the announcement of class suspensions, especially for students and workers.

When people call for #WalangPasok, more often than not, it is a plea for their safety and well-being.
Another user pointed out that their plea for early class suspension announcements is not about students being lazy to go to school.
Students, particularly those studying in Metro Manila but living hours away from the city, are often the ones on look out for early announcements.
Having to travel 2 to 3 hours away from your campus is not as easy as it seems–let alone when the class and work has already been suspended when you are already on your way.
