THE BOYZ postpone Seoul concert after bomb threat

by Rescel Ocampo

SOUTH Korean pop group THE BOYZ has postponed their Seoul concert on Sunday after a reported bomb threat at one of the capital’s venues.

According to local media reports, the authorities received a fax claiming that explosives have been planted in the Olympic Gymnastics Arena or KSPO Dome, prompting a search operation in the area.

Civilians around the dome were reportedly evacuated as the search was conducted.

THE BOYZ were on the third and final day of their “The Blaze” concert series at the KSPO Dome in Seoul when the bomb threat was reported.

In an initial statement on the group’s X (formerly Twitter) account, their agency, One Hundred, announced that the show’s 4 p.m. KST (3 p.m. in the Philippines) start would be delayed.

A later update said the concert would begin at 6 p.m. KST (5 p.m. in the Philippines). They apologized to fans for “making you wait in this hot weather.”

The KSPO Dome is a popular venue for major South Korean and international acts.

THE BOYZ had been performing there since Friday to kick off “The Blaze” tour, which will move on to other stops across Asia.

Formed in 2017 under Cre.ker Entertainment, THE BOYZ is a South Korean boy band known for their dynamic performances and versatile music styles.

They gained wider recognition after winning the 2020 reality show Road to Kingdom and has since built a strong international fanbase.

Their hits include “Bloom Bloom,” “The Stealer,” and “Thrill Ride.”

The group currently has nine active members—Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Sunwoo and Eric—while leader Sangyeon is on mandatory military service.
