AN UPCOMING episode of the popular YouTube show “Hot Ones” will be featuring artist SZA… but there’s something different about the way she looks.
A video teaser for the interview recently posted by “First We Feast” showed SZA on Hot Ones, except with huge bug eyes and antennas to match.
“I’m wondering if we should even acknowledge the prosthetics,” said Sean Evans, the host of the show.
SZA replied, “Yeah, for no other reason than I’m just tired of being… not a bug.”
The rest of the clip featured Sean asking questions about SZA’s music, her past as a competitive gymnast, and her ideal way of spending time at a trampoline park.
“I know that you use freestyling as an entry point to crafting lyrics, like if you’re going into a song without a concept in mind, how do you create the cohesion of an album?” he asked.
SZA replied by saying that she sees herself as the glue to herself and her sound.
“I’ll ask my engineer, I’ll be like, ‘Well that was crazy?’, and he’ll be like, ‘Kill your ex. Let it happen.’”
The episode is expected to be released today, September 26.
“Doing every side quest possible to not get in that damn studio,” one user on X joked.
“I love this,” said another.
“Bring back conceptual albums and give us real promotion and visuals!”
Meanwhile, other fans are questioning if this new look is actually hinting toward a new album release.
Website Vulture noted that SZA has been teasing a new album named “Lana”, which will follow her critically acclaimed album “SOS”. She released a new single just last February entitled “Saturn”, which currently has 533, 453, 686 streams on Spotify.
SZA has also posted photos and videos with a similar bug-like look on her Instagram in the past.
One of them features a teaser for her upcoming song, “Storytime”. The caption attached lists the lyrics of the song, saying: “I know you told stories about me[,] most of them awful[, a]ll of them true. Here’s some for [yo]u.”

As the questions get hotter, so do the sauces.

Since it first started, the show has won one Shorty Award for Best Web Series and two Streamy Awards for Non-Fiction Series and Pop Culture, respectively. It was also nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host (Sean Evans) and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show.
Fans are excitedly awaiting how SZA will handle her wings, curious as to whether or not she’ll be able to take the heat.
