EVERY September, the Department of Health (DOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) promote holistic mental health wellness.
Thousands of people die from suicide every year, affecting the bereaved family and their community. It’s time to keep in mind the people who are struggling, as well as those who have taken their lives by suicide.
Don’t forget to check up on your family and friends; spread hopeful messages to them and tell them that they matter.
If you’ve been struggling with suicidal ideation as of late, here are things you can look forward to that may help to subside the things that you’re struggling with.
- There are places you haven’t explored yet.
There are places waiting for you that you haven’t explored that you have to look forward to. Unfamiliar places expose you to new worlds, cultures, and perspectives. They can add to your memorable moments in life that you will be sure to cherish someday.
- There are so many more pictures to take.
A photograph is another way to keep your memories alive. Imagine how many more photos you could capture with your loved ones, pets, and surroundings, all of which will help you preserve the special moments in your life.
- There is so much more food to eat.
Nothing beats the happiness of savoring your food to satisfy your hunger, especially when it comes to the food that you love. The comfort and joy that your favorite meals bring can evoke a sense of familiarity and warmth within you. Also, treating yourself to good food is another way to boost your mood and give you pleasure.
Remember that every challenge you overcome makes you stronger and more resilient. There is more to life than whatever is consuming you.
Imagine how unique your life is, and know that you matter to others. Words can’t even begin to describe how much your family, your pets, and your friends love you.
Life is full of possibilities. Imagine who and where you will be in five or ten years if you just keep moving forward.
Keep moving, keep fighting, and keep on believing. You matter, and help is always available.
