Global superstar and BTS member Jung Kook has recently made history on Spotify with the drop of his first solo album, ‘Golden‘.
The debut solo album has set a new record for achieving the highest first-day sale in K-pop history and the most streamed K-pop album as a solo artist with 11 tracks from the album charting on Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs, with Seven (feat. Latto) and title track Standing Next to You still dominating the list.
Indeed, Jung Kook has conquered the global pop scene, a testament to his pop star appeal worldwide.
In a statement, Spotify’s Head of Music in South Korea Jungjoo Park said that fans have consistently supported the youngest member of BTS, as shown on Spotify charts.
“We are proud to be able to join them in celebrating the widely loved Jung Kook for his first solo album, helping him further expand his global presence as an artist,” said Park.
In celebration of the success of the album, Spotify is bringing fans closer to the global superstar and his music in new ways, from exclusive bonus content to viral takeovers.
Golden takeover
Spotify and Jung Kook painted the top of the Empire State Building in New York with a silky CGI gold banner to reveal the album title ‘Golden’.
The golden display has sparked global conversations, with many fans showing love and support for the artist.
Meanwhile, fans worldwide were in for a treat as ‘Golden’ took over prominent billboards across major cities in motion and 3D, including New York City, Seoul, Tokyo, Jakarta, and Bangkok.
ARMYs in the Philippines can also see it in the streets of EDSA Guadalupe in Manila from November 10 to 12.
Spotify x Jung Kook exclusive bonus content
Aside from the billboard surprise, Spotify has also rolled out K-Pop ON! bonus content featuring Jung Kook, allowing fans to discover more about the artist and his debut album.
ARMYs worldwide can watch Jung Kook rest and relax in a GOLDEN room made just for him, discover his personal ramyeon porridge recipe, and laugh along as the energetic bunny takes on the Payback Challenge.
According to Jung Kook, he worked hard on his first solo album and hopes that people will enjoy it on Spotify.
In a special message to ARMY, he thanked all his fans for consistently supporting him and other members of BTS.
“Thanks [ARMY] for being by my side. I’ll always cheer ARMY on too,” Jung Kook said.
GOLDEN shows the golden moments and talents of the artist as a solo artist and the ‘Golden Maknae’ of BTS.
