SOUTH Korean actor Song Young-kyu was found dead Monday morning, inside his parked vehicle. He was 55.
Local media reports say an acquaintance found Song inside his car at a residential complex in Seoul.
Police reported that there were no signs of foul play. Authorities are continuing their investigation and plan to question family members to clarify the circumstances of his death.
No suicide note was reportedly found at the scene.
The actor had recently faced public scrutiny following a drunk-driving incident in June, which sparked backlash and reportedly cost him multiple roles.
The controversy marked a turning point in his career, as industry insiders noted his sudden absence from upcoming projects.
Song was widely recognized for his breakout role in the 2019 box office hit “Extreme Job”, a comedic action film that followed a quirky team of narcotics officers who disguise their operations by running a fried chicken joint.
He also appeared in high-profile streaming titles such as Netflix’s “Narco-Saints”, a gritty crime drama based on real events, and Disney+’s “Big Bet”, which explored the rise and fall of a casino mogul in the Philippines.
Song is survived by his wife and two daughters.
