by Deanna Macaranas

THE well-loved webtoon novel later turned into an anime series, ‘Solo Leveling,’ is set to be adapted into a live-action series on Netflix.

‘20th Century Girl,’ South Korean star Byeon Woo Seo, is set to play protagonist Sung Jin Woo, who first started as an E-rank hunter before leveling up to become humanity’s hope against deadly threats.

Netflix unveiled this to a Facebook post with an opening caption, “He won’t be solo if I have anything to say about it.”

The upcoming live-action series will be co-directed by Lee Hae Jun and Kim Byung Seo. The production of the series will be produced by Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures.

Netflix stated that they promise to feature “vivid characters, dynamic action sequences, and exhilarating quests, brought to life by a world-class global VFX team.”

Adding to this is their statement on how they’ll be introducing “fantastical dungeons” and “uniquely powerful monsters” into the series.

In 2024, Solo Leveling debuted as an anime series. This series later won awards in major categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, Best Action, and Best Character.
