SHINee’s Key Returns with New Album ‘Hunter’

by Rescel Ocampo

KEY, a member of the group SHINee, made his comeback Monday with his third full-length album “HUNTER”.

It is accompanied by a music video for the album’s title track.

The album features 10 tracks, exhibiting the theme of “urban legends” and using a weird and uncanny vibe. In it, the protagonist confronts “an other self,” reported Yonhap News Agency.

The album’s centerpiece is the title track, a dance song driven by powerful bass, strong kick drums, rhythmic guitar riffs, and rich layered synths.

According to Key, the lyrics delve into themes of obsession and the intense emotions experienced amid the complexities of a challenging relationship.

“HUNTER” features notable collaborations with other artists across its ten tracks. “Infatuation,” the sixth track, includes a feature from EUNHO of the virtual South Korean boy group PLAVE.

The ninth track, “Perfect Error,” showcases a collaboration with SEULGI from the popular K-pop girl group Red Velvet.

The third track, “Strange,” was co-composed and co-written by singer-songwriter Jae Park, known as eaJ.

Expressing his excitement, eaJ shared on Instagram that being part of Key’s album was a meaningful milestone, recalling how his journey began by singing a SHINee song at a small K-pop convention back in 2007.

“HUNTER” is Key’s third full-length solo album, following his 2022 release Gasoline and its repackaged version Killer in early 2023.

Key is a member of SHINee, one of South Korea’s K-pop boy groups known for hits like “Ring Ding Dong,” “Sherlock,” and “View.”
